Jibble alternative for India: when free stops being enough

Jibble is free forever for unlimited users, GPS included, and that is not a trick. It also has no Indian statutory payroll and publishes no price for the tier above free. Here is exactly where the line falls.

Feature comparison

Jibble rows were checked against jibble.io/pricing and its GPS time tracking feature page in August 2026, and the wording quoted in the notes is theirs. Where a row says not published, that means their own pages do not describe it, not that the product certainly lacks it. Our own rows were checked against our source code in the same month rather than against our marketing, which is why the face recognition and kiosk rows are crosses for us.

  • Free plan with unlimited users

Jibble wins this outright and it is not close. Free forever, no user cap, GPS included. Our cheapest plan is Rs 999 a year and we have no free tier.

  • Face recognition on the punch

Jibble publishes AI face recognition and says it prevents spoofing. We do not do face matching at all.

  • Shared kiosk device with PIN or NFC

Jibble publishes kiosk mode with PIN and NFC. We solve the same problem differently, by letting a supervisor mark a crew from their own phone.

  • EPF and ESI calculated from attendance

Not published anywhere on jibble.io. Their stated payroll path is exporting timesheets to Xero, QuickBooks or Deel.

  • Professional tax and TDS calculated

    Same: nothing India-specific is published.

  • A published price for the paid tier

jibble.io/pricing shows no figure for any paid plan. Their feature pages refer to "Premium plans" with no amount attached.

  • Priced and invoiced in rupees

No Indian price list is published, so nothing can be compared and the rupee cost is not fixed.

  • Attendance for workers with no smartphone and no fixed device

Jibble covers this with a shared kiosk, which needs a device at a location. On a site with no such device, a Shiftelio supervisor marks the crew from their own phone.

  • Indian language interface

No Indian-language list is published that we could read. Shiftelio ships eight alongside English.

  • GPS location stamp on every clock-in

Both do this, and on Jibble it is in the free plan, which is genuinely unusual.

  • Geofence that blocks a punch from the wrong place

Jibble publishes "restrict clock-ins to approved locations" and "geofences scoped to each job site" but does not say which tier that needs. Treat it as unconfirmed on the free plan until you have tested it.

How the two bills are shaped

A single total is only true at one headcount. The shape of the charge is what decides the bill as your team changes size, and it is the part that does not go stale.

There is no price table on this page because Jibble publishes no price we could read. Their pricing page is rendered in the browser and the served page contains no figure at all, and the third-party numbers that circulate disagree with each other. We are not going to put a competitor total on our own site that we cannot point at a source for. What can be said with certainty is the shape: free is genuinely free and genuinely unlimited, and everything above it is a conversation rather than a number.

What Jibble is actually for

Jibble is a time tracking product with the most generous free tier in this market by a wide margin: unlimited users, free forever, with GPS-stamped clock-ins, face recognition, a shared kiosk device mode and integrations with Slack, Microsoft Teams and QuickBooks, all at no cost. Nobody else here comes close to that, us included, because we have no free tier at all. What it is not is a payroll system for India. Its own pricing page describes the payroll path as exporting approved timesheets to Xero, QuickBooks and Deel, and nothing on jibble.io mentions India, EPF, ESI, professional tax or Form 16.

Stay with Jibble when

If any of these describe you, this page has done its job and you should stop reading. We would rather lose the signup than the trust.

  • You want to spend nothing. Their free plan is unlimited users and covers GPS clock-ins, and if that is all you need then no paid product on this site is worth buying instead. We would rather tell you that than sell you a plan you do not need.
  • You want face recognition on the punch. Jibble publishes it as a core feature and says it prevents spoofing. We do not do it at all: our verification is a geofence and a selfie, not a face match.
  • Your payroll runs outside India, or your accountant works from an hours export and handles every statutory deduction themselves.
  • You want a shared kiosk device with PIN and NFC punching. Jibble publishes all three. We handle the no-smartphone case differently, with a supervisor marking a crew from one phone, and if a fixed device at a door is what you pictured then theirs is the closer fit.

Switch to Shiftelio when

  • You need EPF, ESI, professional tax and TDS calculated from the attendance you just recorded, in rupees, in the same product. Jibble calculates hours and hands them to an accounting tool.
  • You want to know the price before you commit. Jibble publishes no figure for any paid tier, so the cost of outgrowing the free plan is unknown until you ask them.
  • You want a rupee invoice from an Indian company, rather than a subscription whose rupee cost moves with the exchange rate.
  • You have workers who own no smartphone and no fixed device to put at the door, so a supervisor marks the crew from their own phone, with each record stamped with who marked it.
  • You want the app in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada or Punjabi, because the people using it do not work in English.

The differences that change a decision

A timesheet is not a payroll, and Jibble does not pretend otherwise

This is the whole of the argument. Jibble records hours accurately, calculates overtime and breaks, and then hands the result to something else: their own pricing page names Xero, QuickBooks and Deel as where approved timesheets go. That is a coherent product decision and for a lot of businesses it is the right one. It stops working the moment you wanted the software to know that ESI applies below a wage threshold, that professional tax differs by state, or that a Form 16 exists. None of that appears anywhere on jibble.io.

Their free tier is better than ours, because we do not have one

We are not going to bury this. Unlimited users, free forever, with GPS clock-ins included, is more than any paid plan on this page gives you for the money at very small sizes. If you have eight people, you want their locations stamped, and your accountant already does the payroll, then Jibble costs nothing and we would be selling you a Rs 999 plan you do not need. Come back when the payroll is the thing eating your month.

You cannot budget for a price nobody publishes

The risk in starting free is not the free part, it is the step after it. When the free plan stops being enough, whether that is because you need a feature above it or because you want support with a name on it, you find out the cost at that point rather than this one, with your data already inside. Our prices are on a page: Rs 999, Rs 5,999, Rs 14,999. You can decide today whether year three is affordable.

Face recognition against a geofence

These are different answers to the same worry. Jibble matches a face and says that prevents spoofing. We draw a boundary and refuse punches outside it, with a selfie attached. Face matching is the stronger check on who is punching; a geofence is the stronger check on where. We do not do face recognition and we are not going to claim we do. If proving identity at a gate is the actual problem, that is a real reason to choose them, and it is also why our construction ranking puts a face-capture product second rather than us.

Questions people ask

Is Jibble really free?

Yes, and it is the most generous free plan in this comparison by a distance: unlimited users, forever, with GPS-stamped clock-ins, face recognition, kiosk mode and integrations with Slack, Microsoft Teams and QuickBooks. There is no user cap to run into. What is unclear from their published pages is exactly which location features sit above the line, since they describe geofences scoped to each job site without saying which tier that needs, so test that specifically before you commit to it.

What does Jibble cost for a paid plan in India?

We do not know, and we are not going to guess. jibble.io/pricing publishes no numeric price: the plan grid renders in the browser, so the served page contains no figure at all, and their feature pages refer only to "Premium plans" with no amount. Third-party listings quoting a per-user price contradict each other and none of them is Jibble. Ask Jibble directly. That is also why this page has no price table, when every other comparison on this site does.

Does Jibble do Indian payroll?

No. Nothing on jibble.io mentions India, EPF, ESI, professional tax or Form 16, and their own description of the payroll path is that approved timesheets are exported to Xero, QuickBooks, Deel and similar tools. So the hours are correct and the statutory work happens somewhere else, by someone else. If that someone is an accountant you already pay, this may cost you nothing. If you were hoping the software would do it, it will not.

Can I move from Jibble to Shiftelio later?

Yes, and starting free is a sensible way to begin. Export your employee list and your timesheet history from Jibble before you move; what matters is that you keep the historical hours somewhere, since attendance records have a habit of being needed a year after anyone thought about them. Set up the geofences fresh rather than trying to transfer them, and run one payroll cycle in parallel before you switch off the old process.

Which is better for a construction site?

It depends on whether your workers have phones. Jibble is strong if you can put a shared kiosk device at the gate: PIN, NFC and a face match all work well in that setup. If there is no device and no reliable network at the gate, our answer is a supervisor marking the crew from their own phone with the record stamped with who marked it, and daily wages calculated from it. Our full construction ranking compares eight products on exactly that question, and it does not put us first on identity checking.

Does Jibble work offline?

Their published pages do not describe offline capture either way, so we are not going to assert it in either direction. This matters more than it sounds on a site with no signal: an app that cannot record a punch offline records nothing at all, and the gap only shows up on the day it costs you. Ask them directly, and if you are comparing on this specifically, our field staff ranking is where we work through which products publish a clear answer.

This is a comparison written by Shiftelio, which is one of the two products described. Everything stated about Jibble is drawn from their own published pages and positioning, This page deliberately carries no price comparison, because Jibble publishes no numeric price on jibble.io/pricing: the plan grid is rendered in the browser and the served page contains no figure. We would rather leave the comparison out than fill it with a third-party number we cannot check, and was checked in August 2026. Where their pricing is quote-based or reported inconsistently across sources we describe the charging model rather than assert a figure, and you should ask them directly. Plans and prices change on both sides. Jibble names and marks belong to their owners and are used here for identification only; no affiliation or endorsement is implied.
