The minimum wage for an unskilled worker in Gujarat is ₹512.50 a day in Zone I, which comes to ₹13,325 for a month of 26 working days. In Zone II it is ₹501.50 a day. Those are the rates from 1 April 2026, and as of 5 October 2026 they are still the latest Gujarat has notified.

Gujarat revises twice a year, from 1 April and 1 October. The April order ran until 30 September 2026, so an October order is due. This article gives the current rates, shows exactly how the last revision moved them, and explains what to do when the October order arrives.

Gujarat minimum wages from 1 April 2026

Class of workerZone I, per dayZone I, per monthZone II, per dayZone II, per month
Unskilled₹512.50₹13,325₹501.50₹13,039
Semi-skilled₹522.50₹13,585₹512.50₹13,325
Skilled₹534.50₹13,897₹522.50₹13,585

Each daily rate is a basic rate plus a variable dearness allowance (VDA) of ₹60.50 a day, the same for every class and both zones:

Class of workerZone I basicZone II basicVDA
Unskilled₹452₹441₹60.50
Semi-skilled₹462₹452₹60.50
Skilled₹474₹462₹60.50

The monthly figures are the daily rate multiplied by 26. The order covers 46 scheduled employments and three classes of worker: unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled.

Zone I or Zone II?

Gujarat splits the state into two zones, and Zone II's rate is ₹10 to ₹12 a day lower than Zone I's. One compliance publisher describes Zone I as municipal corporation and urban development authority areas, and Zone II as the larger municipalities. Only one source says this, so check the order's own list for the place each of your people works.

How the April 2026 revision moved the rates

The basic rates did not change in April. Only the VDA did, from ₹48.50 to ₹60.50 a day.

Class of workerZone I, 1 Oct 2025Zone I, 1 Apr 2026Change
Unskilled₹500.50₹512.50+₹12 a day
Semi-skilled₹510.50₹522.50+₹12 a day
Skilled₹522.50₹534.50+₹12 a day

Because the VDA is a flat amount, every class in both zones went up by the same ₹12 a day, ₹312 a month. That is the pattern to expect in October too: the basic stays, and the VDA moves by one amount for everyone.

The October 2026 order is due

The April order was valid from 1 April to 30 September 2026. The previous October order was notified on 30 September 2025, right on time; this year's had not appeared by 5 October 2026. When it does, it will take effect from 1 October, and any days paid at the April rate since then become arrears.

Because Gujarat's VDA is flat, working out those arrears is simple: the increase per day, multiplied by the days each person worked since 1 October. That is only possible if you still have the day count for each person for October, after the month's pay run has closed.

For other states, see the state minimum wages table, and for how late orders are backdated, why 1 October is probably not your date.

Where Shiftelio fits

Shiftelio does not look up or update Gujarat's minimum wage. You set each employee's pay, a monthly salary, a rate per day or per shift, or an hourly rate, and the pay run works from the days and hours attendance shows. A daily-rated worker is paid for the days attendance shows, at the rate you set, and the day count stays on record after the pay run.

Sources, and what was read first hand. The April 2026 and October 2025 rates are as reported by several compliance publishers whose figures agree, including Labour Law Help (read on 5 October 2026), DCP Sol SGCMS and Ascent HR. The description of the zones comes from one publisher only. The Gujarat order and the Commissioner of Labour's site were not read directly, which is why the list of local bodies in each zone is not reproduced. The 26-day monthly figure is our arithmetic and matches every published monthly rate. Nothing here is legal advice.
